FAQ

Will this cost money?

Recording workouts is free, forever. An optional subscription called Active Metrics Pro unlocks the analysis and navigation features:

Pro is $7.99/month or $49.99/year, with the first month free, purchased through Apple’s standard in-app subscription flow. Cancel any time from Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone. See the terms for details.

Do GPS and live tracking drain my battery fast?

Yes — continuous GPS and heart-rate sensing are the most battery-intensive things a watch can do. That’s true of any GPS workout app, not something specific to Active Metrics. For a long effort, start with a full charge; for anything multi-hour, bring a portable charger. On remote runs, downloading offline maps ahead of time also helps — the watch isn’t burning extra battery hunting for signal to load map tiles.

Ultra, Ultra 2/3, or Series — does it matter which watch I use?

Active Metrics runs on any watch that supports watchOS 26.2+. The Ultra line has more battery headroom, which matters for long efforts — ultramarathons, all-day hikes. For typical training runs and rides, a Series watch works fine.

What’s the minimum OS version?

watchOS 26.2 and iOS 26.2 or later.

Why is route generation limited to the United States?

Route generation runs entirely on your device, from a routing region you download first — and so far we’ve only built and published those regions for the United States. Everything else — GPS recording, GPX import, turn-by-turn navigation on an imported route, offline maps — works anywhere. Wider coverage is on the roadmap post-beta.

Does my data leave my device?

Mostly no. Health and workout data lives on-device and syncs through your own iCloud account — we can’t read it. Route generation and route snapping run on your watch or phone, so nothing about where you’re going is sent anywhere. The only things that reach our servers are map tile requests, routing-region downloads, and (only if you turn it on) live location sharing. Full detail is in the privacy policy.

Can I export to Strava?

Yes. Open a workout on your iPhone and tap the share button for Export GPX or Export TCX, then hand the file to Strava, Garmin Connect, or anything else that reads them. There’s no direct Strava sync yet.

How do I report a bug?

Email [email protected] with what you were doing, what you expected, what happened, and your watch model. If you’re on a TestFlight build, its built-in feedback (shake your phone) attaches device and build info automatically. More in Support.
